Meet the Women of NGL: International Women's Day 2022

For International Women’s Day 2022, and especially the global theme of #BreaktheBias, we have three treats for novel and disruptive healthcare and life sciences innovators.

The first treat is a video introducing the Women of NGL

Discover how we’re breaking the bias in our work and industry every single day. You can watch this below, and then be sure to check out each woman’s individual video on LinkedIn to learn more.

We asked each of them 3 questions:

  1. How are you #BreakingtheBias in healthcare innovation?

  2. What excites you about the work you’re doing?

  3. What do you wish more healthcare innovators understood about the value of diversity and inclusion?

Their answers may surprise you, and they will definitely inspire you!

The second treat is the publication of our annual Invest in Womxn List

While we can report an 83% increase in funding for women-led startups in 2021, the total is still only 2% of dollars invested in venture-backed companies. And that lopsided investment ratio has consequences:

“In a study of over 350 startups, Mass Challenge and BCG determined that businesses founded by women deliver higher revenue—more than 2 times as much per dollar invested—than those founded by men, making women-owned companies better investments for financial backers. The authors calculated that VCs could have made an additional $85 million over five years if they’d just invested equally in both the women- and men-founded startups.” (Source: Forbes)

So if you’re a woman founder looking for investment, mentorship, or resources, be sure to check out this list. And if you’re in a position to mentor, fund, or support women founders, then it is very much to your benefit to do so! Let us know if you want to be included on our list.

If you’re a Black female founder, you’ll want to also check out the VC and accelerator resources in our Invest in Black Founders list.

The third treat is our newest podcast, Legally Femtech

If you have an interest in expanding women’s healthcare access and options, then you’ll want to tune into the newest podcast in our lineup: Legally FemTech.

Host Bethany Corbin shares compelling insights and interviews for innovators in this fast-growing segment of the market, and you won’t want to miss a single episode.

What you can do with these 3 treats

You may notice we don’t usually do holiday posts around here. We view everything we share through the lens of: “What will this add to the lives of our clients and followers?” If we don’t have an answer with substance, we don’t do it.

(Sorry, National Talk Like Yoda Day. Disappointed, you must be.)

We hope we hit the mark on this holiday post for you so that:

  • Innovators of all types can appreciate the value a diverse healthcare innovation law firm brings to the table;

  • Executives find our attorneys’ insights on bias and innovation compelling in making future decisions on product development and hiring; and

  • Founders use the funding and mentorship resources to bring their world-changing ideas to market.

And if you’re a talented healthcare innovation attorney who wants to #breakthebias, then we invite you to check out our Careers page to work with the best team in the industry.

Happy International Women’s Day!
